Hannah's Baby Bella.

Sweet, delicate, oh so very new. All those beautiful baby sounds, the smell and warmth of her little head, when you snuggle in to kiss her,  and the softness of her skin.

What an honour it is to be able to take part in the beginning of a newborn child's life. To be able to record her, so early on, before she changes, so quickly.

And I most certainly felt, after the first try ( 5 hours later ) that maybe Im not really any good at this whole infant photography thingo after all! But Hannah, bless her, brought me a sleeping, full of milk, baby Bella the next day, to let me try my little pose experiments again! What a wonderful mother is she! With her little girl only 10 days old, and just getting used to the routine of sleepless nights and early feeds, taking the time out of her day to let me play at being photographer, with her new, tiny child. What can I say?  Thank you Hannah!

And guess what, I got that Pic!

And these were the ones I really wanted to capture. I had found this little leaf boat/ bowl in a cheap store, and thought how its shape lends itself to a curled up, sleepy baby. I am so glad I got to try again, as I love these images, and feel a sense of pride in them.

And this one is a combination of four images, stitched up together! I don't have a wide lens, and I felt that to get all the detail of Bella, and the prop, I needed to "stretch" out the image.

I love it!

Amazing Belly.

I  knew my friend Hannah was having a baby. What I didn't realise was that the baby was due in 7 days time, and I really had wanted to rope her into letting me photograph her beautiful belly!
And what an amazingly beautiful woman she is, with the expectancy of motherhood just around the corner,  In full bloom, so to speak!

Her mum came into the place I work at, and told me she was about ready to pop, and I said, Oh, I hope she doesn't go into labour yet! I want to take some pregnancy shots!
Lucky for me, those "twinges" subsided, and I managed to capture some sweet memories for her, of  this very very special time in a woman's life, as her body is busily creating
someone oh so very new.

Before you were conceived, I wanted you
Before you were born, I loved you
Before you were here an hour, I would die for you
This is the miracle of a mothers love.

Hunter and Jevan

Its school holidays, here in South Australia, and it's time to have friends over for play dates, to be free of the restraints of early starts and "have to be there on time so move" syndrome!
Here are a couple of gorgeous kids, that my son has a fabulous best friend bond with. They loved having  a play in our massively overgrown back "paddock", which I tend to try and ignore, ( its hubby's job to mow it, not mine ) as it makes for some great photographs!

This is Hunter.

And this is Jevan

My boy.

It has been a beautiful day.
The earth is warming up, and I am feeling like I am ready to move and get out again.
This is a quick shot of my beautiful boy, with his school shirt over his head. For some reason, I really took to this image of him. Big school boy, everything being absorbed like a sponge... Where is the time going....

Annie Laurie

Last week I decided to go fog chasing. You may wonder what on earth fog chasing is. It's where a mad  photographer gets it into her head that while she can see fog, there are pictures to be taken that could end up being somewhat poetic....hopefully....
So, after packing my poor child into her car seat ( once again ) I went driving to find something that spoke to me. Unfortunately, Id left it a wee bit late, ok, a lot too late, to capture anything remotely mystical .... HANG ON!
Have I told you who I happened to meet on the road side, while I was scrounging??
A Lady. Yep. AND she has been to the moon. You can't get more mystical and interesting than that, can you. AND, wait for it, she has even written a book. ( you can find it here http://www.amazon.com/The-Mad-Thing-1-ebook/dp/B005HDJ9NY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1314589346&sr=1-1 )
No matter that this lady is stuck in a dog's body. Thats never stopped her telling her wonderful owner, Kym Afford ( who happens to be a fantastic artist ) = ( Ahh, the people you meet! ) all about her adventures and using her imagination. (Here is his page if you want to have a peek at his fab work http://kdafford.com/. )
Anyway, I have some photos of Annie to share instead. Not the landscapeish images I thought I would capture, but something/one just as interesting and wonderful!

A Jolly Engagement!

When My gorgeous cousin Bec asked me to take some photographs of her and her lovely partner, Jolly (thats what we all call him, and it suits!) I felt rather honoured to be the one who gets to record this little, very significant and special,  part of their life journey.
It's funny, Bec and I hardly ever see each other as we live a distance apart and lead different lives, but when I finally caught up with her and her beloved, it felt a lot like greeting an old friend. Where nothing has really changed, and you can talk to your hearts content, feeling comfortable and at ease. Maybe it's a family thing. Or maybe Bec and Jolly are just lovely, easy going and fun people, that I just happen to have the fortune of being related to!

Congratulations you two!

Panoramic golden foggy morning.

I finally got around to stitching up the 10 photos I took of this foggy valley. I love the result! It's a pity I can't share the chill and the soggy shoes, the sounds of birds waking up and the awe....

Blossom time

I love this time of year. It's blossom time, all those gorgeous trees covered in white, preparing for spring! If only I could capture their scent as well as their delicate beauty!

Golden, foggy morning!

Sometimes, not very often, but Sometimes I don't mind when my daughter wakes me up nice and early, just as the sky starts to lighten.
When I looked outside, and peered down into the valley below our house, I saw it was covered in a blanket of fog, with the sun just peeking over the horizon to welcome a gorgeous, glistening, beautiful morning.
So, I quickly threw some clothes on, grabbed a milk drink for Gisele, bundled her up and hopped into the car, driving to where I thought I might be able to take some nice photos. I don't usually take landscape shots, it's just not really my thing. But when everything is all misty, and secretive, glistening and chill, there is that special feeling which I just wanted to try and capture,
the breaking of a new day.
